Congratulations DHS Career and Technology Award-Winning Ag Science and Criminal Justice Programs! Each are now listed among the best in Texas!

DHS teacher Wayne Blount works closely with students as they learn the skills needed to become a vet assistant in the high school's Certified Veterinary Assistant Program.  "...Seventeen students received their Certification as Level One Veterinarian Assistants in 2006-07," said Alice Bradley, DVM with the Animal Hospital of Denison.  "The test is given through the Texas Veterinarian Medical Association, and according to TVMA, no other high school in the state has had this many students certified.  TEA is looking at using the CVA program at Denison High School as a model for other high schools wanting to start the CVA program."

Denison High School Criminal Justice teacher Steve Cherry walks students through the intricate steps of properly processing forensic evidence, including fingerprinting, preserving the crime scene, dusting and lifting fingerprints, crime scene photography and other procedures.  "Our program has grown tremendously," said Cherry.  "One of our most successful teaching tools is our annual Forensics Conference which attracts some of the top Criminal Justice experts in the nation.  We are graduating a lot of people who continue their education in police academies and as Criminal Justice majors in college.
