| PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Denison ISD provides an instructional program in a remedial class setting on the identified student's campus. The major instructional strategies will use individualized and/or small group instruction, intensive, multisensory methods, that include writing and spelling components. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA Students will be screened who have average to superior range of intelligence, but have significant difficulty learning and remembering printed words. Language areas, such as reading, spelling, and/or writing will be assessed to determine dyslexia identification. After considering both informal and standardized evaluations and all other available data regarding the academic progress of the student, the local campus committee will make the final recommendation for identification. EXPECTED OUTCOMES Students will be monitored yearly to evaluate success in the program. Reading specialists will administer tests or sections of norm referenced tests to evaluate the student's progress in the specific area of academic weakness. Student records will be maintained during the student's attendance in the program. | |
