Director Biography:

Amy Jordan is currently the Director of Theatre and Fine Arts Department Chair at Denison High School. Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama, with an emphasis in Stage Management and Design, from Texas Woman’s University, where she is also currently working on her Master of Arts degree in Theatrical Design. Before beginning her ten year tenure at DHS, Amy, spent two years as an Actors Equity Stage Manager in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.  Along with her team of co-directors, Amy has qualified for the 4A State level of competition in U.I.L. One-Act Play, 4 times-winning 1st Runner Up in 2010 and 2 Samuel French awards for best performer in the state in 2010 & 2012. She has produced two flying productions, in conjunction with ZFX, at both the International and State Thespian festivals – where she serves as the Chapter Director for the State of Texas. She is also serving as the Flying Director and Production Manager with the Texas Thespians All State Show of Coram Boy. Amy has been married to the same wonderful man, Paul Jordan, for 11 years and has three wonderful fur-children, William, Marlow and Desi. Her motto, which all of her students learn on day one is “Make it happen!” -Because she truly believes that with a lot of HARD WORK, PASSION for your art and extreme DEDICATION- all things ARE possible!


Nikki Silva

Director Biography:

 

Nikki Silva is a Theatre Director and Debate teacher at Denison High School. Nikki holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama, with an emphasis in Acting and Directing, from Texas Woman’s University, where she is also currently working on her Master of Arts degree in Directing. Going into her 8th year at DHS, she has directed and/or co-directed over 30 productions and along with her co-directors, has qualified for the 4A U.I.L. One-Act Play State Meet 4 times, placing 1st runner up in 2010, and has coached 7Best Actor and 10 Best Actress U.I.L. award winners, including two Samuel French Award winners at State 2010 & 2012. In Speech and Debate- Silva has had the opportunity to take students to the Regional level of competition in Poetry, Prose and LD Debate. In 2001, along with a talented team of writers, Nikki co-authored, Colours….A Musical Allegory, an original musical which she also directed and performed in, and had the opportunity to tour with all over the state of Texas. In 2000, along with Mrs. J, Silva was part of a theatrical troupe that directed and performed in original works of theatre in Prague- the Czech Republic, during a three-week theatrical tour. Nikki has been singing and performing since the age of 5- performing and competing in talent shows, opries, jamborees and contests all over the south. She believes that “ALL things are possible, if you just believe in yourself and what you are doing,” and works hard to instill this into her students each and every day.


Matthew Schielack

Director Biography:

 

Matthew Schielack is currently a Director for the Denison High School Theatre Department teaching Technical Theatre classes and is a Sponsor for Drama Club and NHS with Rachel’s Challenge. He also is the Music Teacher for the District’s 6 Elementary Schools teaching basics in Music. Matthew holds his Bachelor of Fine Arts for Performance and Production in Theatre from Texas State University in San Marcos. Before his 3 years at Denison, Matthew worked in Professional Entertainment as a House Manager for the Majestic and Empire Theatre’s in San Antonio, and enjoyed 3 years of working for the Fortune 100 Walt Disney Company in Operations, Entertainment, and Recruitment, and is still an avid supporter of Disney! He might even share some stories from the Circus if you ask him.  Matthew is proud to be a 3 year State OAP Director along with his Co-Directors and Denison’s UIL OAP Productions of Mariner, Big Love winning the coveted Samuel French in 2012, & Edith Stein in 2013. Matthew hails from the big City of Caldwell where he grew up on the Farm and enjoys outdoor life and playing sports.  His Passion of course is the Theatre and its Company with all the unique characteristics, opportunities, and eccentricities it brings. The Kids call him “She-Croc”, pertaining to the colorful Crocs you’ll most likely see him wearing. He believes that “Anything worth doing is worth working for, but if you don’t have Fun while working, it’s like working for nothing!”


Nick Timmerman

Director Biography:
 

Nick Timmerman is the Choral Director at Denison High School. Nick holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with an emphasis in Performance and Music Education and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from Austin College. Before teaching at Denison High School, Nick was the Assistant Choral Director at Austin College for three years and a five-year member of both the Austin College A Cappella Choir and The Quartette, a small men’s ensemble. In 2011, Nick traveled with the Austin College A Cappella Choir to France where he conducted around the country. His highlight performance was conducting the Prelude for the Sunday morning Mass at Notre Dame de Paris as well as singing solos. During his student teaching experience with Denison High School, Nick was the Voice Coach for Denison’s performance of “Legally Blonde”. Nick looks forward to continuing his work with the Denison High School Theatre and establishing lasting experiences with the Denison High School Choir. If you’re ever timid, remember, “I’ve GOT this!”
