The objectives of our grade point system are to provide a method of rewarding academic success; to select valedictorian, salutatorian, and honor graduates; to determine class rank; and to reward students for achievement in advanced classes.  This system is divided into three levels:

DISTINGUISHED ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAM (DAP)

The Distinguished Achievement Program is the most rigorous “Graduation Plan” in the State of Texas. 

Standards for Approval of Requirements:

Four advanced measures are required.  Measures must focus on demonstrated student performance at the college or professional level.  Student performance on advanced measures must be assessed through an external review process.

The city has a population of 22,773 with seven elementary schools, one middle school, one alternative high school, and one high school. Denison is located north of Dallas near the Texas/Oklahoma state line and popular Lake

SOCRATES PROGRAM

The Socrates program is an initiative to encourage each student to achieve his or her maximum potential.  The program will honor Denison HS students who have completed four years of English, science, mathematics, and social studies.  The following is the criteria:

16 credits – 4 from each core area
Minimum of 8 credits from Pre-AP and AP

core courses

Minimum GPA 3.5
