Each full-time professional employee is required to earn a minimum of 60 hours of professional growth credit during each five years of employment with Denison ISD. Teachers with a master's degree or who are over 60 years of age are exempt from this requirement. Administrators are exempt after they earn 30 college hours above their master's degree.
Course Requirements: Professional growth hours may be earned by completing 6 college hours in graduate level courses. College classes which are not part of a master's program for a teaching field must be approved by Jerri Bone. Each 3-hour college class counts as 48 workshop hours. Workshops must not be taken during school hours, and can be used for comp. time or professional growth - not both.
If you have attended workshops or college classes for which you wish to receive professional growth credit, please submit proof of attendance to Ms. Jerri Bone, Director of Instruction. Upon Ms. Bone's approval, credit will be posted in ERO.
Time Period: Regardless of the actual date of hire, five-year periods run from September 1st through August 31st. If your five-year period is ending this year, please make sure you have all your submissions turned in by August 15th.
