Denison ISD Awarded $1.9M TI Foundation STEM Implementation Grant to Expand STEM Education

Denison ISD is committed to expanding high-quality STEM education and preparing students for the future workforce. Amid local growth in population and economic development, the district is working to ensure students are equipped for evolving career opportunities. To support this effort, Denison ISD has received a significant investment in STEM education.

The TI Foundation STEM Implementation Grant supports public school districts in expanding access to high-quality STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education. Grants are funded by the TI Foundation and managed in partnership with Educate Texas, an initiative of Communities Foundation of Texas. This initiative is designed to increase equitable access to rigorous STEM learning, strengthen teacher training and retention, expand college and career pathways for students, and align STEM education with evolving industry needs.

The $1.9M grant from the TI Foundation to Educate Texas will be used to support Denison ISD.

  • This funding will facilitate several key initiatives:
  • STEM training for teachers across all grade levels.
  • Enhanced math instruction, intervention strategies, and Advanced Placement (AP) options.
  • Expanded CTE, AP, and dual credit pathways to support academic and workforce readiness.
  • Strengthened student supports through leadership development and community partnerships.
  • Growth of extracurricular STEM programs, including clubs, camps, and student organizations.

The grant aims to equip students with the skills needed for success in college and the workforce, including design process thinking, critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and executive functioning. It also aims to provide high-quality professional development for STEM educators, expand access to college credit, industry credentials, and dual credit opportunities, and support student engagement through hands-on experiences and mentorship.

The grant's key focus areas include strengthening STEM curricula for college readiness (College-Focused Academics), aligning coursework with real-world job demands (Industry-Informed Programming), creating and expanding pathways into STEM careers (College & Career Readiness), and enhancing access to STEM clubs, internships, mentorships, and leadership opportunities (Student Support).

This investment reinforces Denison ISD’s commitment to providing equitable STEM opportunities that align with local workforce demands and foster long-term student success.

In addition, the TI Foundation awarded the Denison ISD Education Foundation an Innovation in STEM Teaching Award to recognize excellence in classroom instruction. The selected teacher will receive $10,000 for personal use and $10,000 for professional development or classroom enhancement.
