Denison ISD Offers Free Summer Meals to Children and Teens through USDA’s SUN Meals Program

This summer, Denison ISD is proud to participate in the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s SUN Meals program, offering free, nutritious meals to all children and teens 18 and under. Through SUN Meals, families can ensure their kids continue to eat well when school is out—no registration or ID required.

“Good nutrition shouldn’t take a summer break,” said Lauren Hossle, Food Service Director of Denison ISD. “SUN Meals makes it easy for our community’s children to stay fueled and focused throughout the summer.”

Meal Details:

  • Who: All children and teens 18 and under
  • What: Free breakfast and/or lunch
  • When: May 26th – Aug 12th, Monday through Friday  8 am – 12:30 pm
  • Where: Mayes Elementary School May 26th _ July 3rd ,M-F, B 8-9:30 am,  L 11-12:30 pm
    • Scott Middle School June 1st- July 3rd, M-F, B 8-9:00 am, L 11- 12:00 pm
    • Denison High School June 1st – June 18th. M-Th, L 9:30 am – 12:30pm
          • July 6th – July 16th, M-Th, L 9:30 am- 12:30 pm
          • July 27th- August 12th, M- Th, L 9:30 am – 12:30 pm
  • How: Just show up! No application, registration, or ID needed.

The USDA’s SUN Meals program helps ensure children have access to healthy meals and snacks throughout the summer months when school meals are not available. Meals follow USDA nutrition guidelines and are served in a safe, supervised environment.
