DISD LRPC UPDATES

Meeting Location: Denison ISD Service Center, 6:30pm

Meeting Purpose: The primary purpose of the meeting was for the LRPC to reconvene to continue discussions regarding Scott Middle School. Reconvening in June was part of the committee’s recommendation to the DISD Board of Trustees during the February regular board meeting.

Meeting Agenda:

• Reviewed the recommendation made to the board of trustees in February.
• Celebrated the passing of two bond propositions and acknowledged historic community support of the school district.
• Reviewed 2023 bond projects (Terrell, Lamar, Houston, and New B. McDaniel Intermediate).
• Reviewed options for Scott Middle School that were discussed previously.
• Received feedback from various members of the LRPC regarding SMS.
• Discussed reasons and agreed to postpone decisions for Scott Middle School if/until demographic reports dictate future discussions.
• Discussed next steps (update the board of trustees, conduct annual demographic reports, keep LRPC informed moving forward, reconvene LRPC based on recommendation from DISD Board of Trustees in the future).

Meeting Purpose:

The primary purpose of this LRPC meeting was to continue discussing Scott Middle School’s current and future facility needs. Additionally, the committee was also to finalize a recommendation to the DISD Board of Trustees regarding a 10-year comprehensive facilities plan.

Meeting Agenda:

• The committee worked within their assigned groups to reach a consensus regarding how to address Scott Middle School’s current and future facility needs.
• The committee agreed to recommend to the DISD Board of Trustees that the committee reconvene in June to further discuss the facility needs of SMS.
• The committee also confirmed the decision made during the January 14 LRPC meeting to recommend that the DISD Board of Trustees call for a bond election in May to address land acquisition, bus and technology procurement, and the purchase and installation of artificial turf at DHS.
