Head Start Program

Head Start is a full-day federally funded program for three and four-year-old preschool children. Students must live in Denison ISD. Your child will not be registered until all required eligibility has been met. Eligibility for Head Start is based on income and completed paper work.​ This includes all required Texas vaccinations.

Head Start Enrollment Qualifications:

• Child must be 3 or 4 years old on or before September 1 of the current school year
• Family must be income eligible
• Family is homeless
• Foster child
• Child who may have an identified disability
• Child of active duty military

Additional Information

• Full Day

• Transportation may be available for Head Start​

• School supplies provided for students

Proof of Income:

• Tax form 1040 or W-2(s)

• SNAP benefit letter

• Self-employment: previous 12 month’s income

• TANF, SSI, Social Security, (other)​

Enrollment Documents:

• Original Birth Certificate

• Child’s Social Security Card

• Current Immunization Records or exemption form (Original Affidavit is required)

• Proof of residency (One of the following is required):

  • A current utility bill under your name (Gas, Water, or Electric)

  • A current lease agreement that includes all occupants living in the apartment/house and contains all required signatures

  • A current mortgage statement

    • **If the documents are not in your name:

      • You and the resident must complete a District Residency Affidavit at the campus/administration office; notary services are available on site at no cost.

      • The resident must provide one of the documents listed above in their name and a valid photo ID with a matching address

• Parent ID

• Insurance Card 

Head Start provides an online application process, which can be done from a mobile device or computer. Once the online application is complete a staff member from Head Start will contact the family to begin the qualification process by scheduling an eligibility interview.​
