“Scholars Among Us” salutes top students, educators

Extra-special events and activities for Denison High School’s top graduating seniors would not be complete without one of the year’s most anticipated celebrations: the Denison Education Foundation’s “Scholars Among Us” dinner event at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Underwritten by First United Bank, the Regensburger Foundation and the Smith Foundation with profits earmarked for DISD classroom grants, the May 5th banquet honored the Top 10% and Socrates Scholars of the Class of 2022 and the teachers who had the greatest impact on their lives.

“This year’s Scholars Among Us event was a wonderful celebration of excellence for our students and their chosen teachers, as well as their entire families,” said DEF Executive Director Melanie Truxal. “The highlight of the annual event is always the video, which gives our top students a unique opportunity to express their heartfelt thanks to the educators who most influenced their lives, both personally and academically. Start to finish, it was a beautiful and memorable evening for a very special group of amazing students and teachers. We’re very grateful to our sponsors and table sponsors who make this event possible every year. We couldn’t do it without their generous support.”
