Parents are strongly encouraged to continually monitor their child’s meal account balance for negative balances. This can be done by setting up an account in the My School Bucks on the Food Service department link on the DISD website, or by checking with your child’s cafeteria department. At the point a student’s account has a negative balance, the district will send out negative balance notices and may begin calling the parent. Charging is never allowed on a la carte items, such as chips, ice cream, etc.
DISD Meal Account Refund Policy
Unused meal account money of $5.00 or more left in an inactive account is available for refund for the current and up to June 15 of prior year and may be requested by a child’s parent/guardian.
Any unused balance can also be transferred to a sibling’s account upon request. All requests must list the child’s full name and student ID, and will be processed as quickly as possible. The form must be printed, completed and returned to the Denison ISD Food Service department.

Cafeteria Services (All Grade Levels)
The district participates in the School Breakfast Program (SBP) and National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and offers students nutritionally balanced meals daily in accordance with standards set forth in state and federal laws. Denison ISD is not required to offer another food item should a student refuse one of the food items in the meal.
Grades PK-8 currently eat free meals due to the those grades being enrolled in the Community Eligibility Program (CEP). Grades 9-12 do not currently qualify for CEP free meals, so meals for these students are charged at the free, reduced or paid status. Free and reduced-price meals are available through the Free and Reduced Meal Application based on financial need or household situation. Free and Reduced Meal Applications are available throughout the school year for participation in the free and reduced meal program. Applications are available on-line through the district website, from the campus secretary, campus cafeteria manager or the Denison ISD Food Service Department at 4101 Texoma Parkway.
Information about a student’s participation is confidential; however, disclosure of a student’s eligibility may be made without prior notice or consent to programs, activities, and individuals that are specifically authorized access under the National School Lunch Act (NSLA), which is the law that sets forth the disclosure limits for the district’s child nutrition programs. A student’s name, eligibility status, and other information may be disclosed to certain agencies as authorized under the NSLA to facilitate the enrollment of eligible children in Medicaid or the state children’s health insurance program (CHIP) unless the student’s parent notifies the district that a student’s information should not be disclosed. A parent’s decision will not affect the child’s eligibility for free and reduced price meals.
