Denison’s 2019 Homecoming: a grand success!
Excited throngs of Denison alumni, fans, visitors and distinguished guests packed downtown Denison and Munson Stadium October 3rd and 4th to celebrate another extremely successful Homecoming.
Leading the celebrations were ten exceptional homecoming queen nominees, dozens of DHS sweethearts, three very deserving DHS alumni honorees, the DHS Band, the Drill Team and the Color Guard – plus thousands of DISD students, past and present, who have created time-honored memories and great new traditions.
Culminating the high-energy events and celebrations was the crowning of Regan McClure as Denison High School’s 2019 Homecoming Queen.
Regan is a very active and involved DHS senior who currently serves as president of the DHS Student Council, vice president of the DHS Senior Class, and treasurer of the DHS National Honor Society. She is also a member of the DHS Fellowship of Christian Athletes Leadership Team, a four-year DHS Cross Country runner, and a three-year member of the Lady Jackets Basketball team. During her junior year, Regan participated in the Denison Sister Cities Exchange Program and traveled to Cognac, France. After graduation, she plans to pursue a degree in Education with a minor in Sociology.
“This year’s homecoming nominees are all great students and exemplary young people who are active and involved in both their school and community,” said DHS Homecoming Sponsor LeAnne Rogers. “Needless to say, we are so very proud and excited to have Regan McClure as our reigning 2019 Homecoming Queen. Everything about our 2019 Homecoming was perfect: a beautiful parade down Main Street, a great football game, excellent weather…and so many wonderful fans who came home to celebrate with us. We count our blessings here in Denison. It’s truly great to be a Yellow Jacket!”
Gale Powell, President of the Denison Alumni Association, called this year’s 2019 Alumni Reception “a fun and joyful celebration…definitely one to remember.”
“John Mark Jennings, Class of 1984, received the prestigious Distinguished Alumni Award for the many amazing accomplishments he achieved during his tenure here as a DHS student…as well as his incredible contributions to society in the years since his graduation,” said Powell. “John Parker, currently our Scott Middle School principal who is beloved and respected by generations of Yellow Jackets, very deservedly received our esteemed 2019 Distinguished Educator Award. And last but not least, Erik Brown joined our list of high-profile athletes who are members of our renowned Sports Hall of Fame…for his amazing achievements as both an athlete and a person. He’s definitely one of Denison’s finest. We’re so proud of all three of this year’s honorees. I don’t think we could have asked for a better crowd turnout…or a more excited group of honorees and participants.”

Denison High School’s spirited Stingerettes marched their way down Main Street during the always-popular DHS Homecoming Parade.
Denison High School’s award-winning band led dozens of festively decorated vehicles and floats down Main Street to the tune of everyone’s homecoming parade favorite: the beloved DHS fight song.
DHS cheerleaders and football players shared a float and an abundance of Yellow Jacket spirit during the annual Homecoming Parade that made its way down Main Street to the delight of thousands of fans and supporters. “We have so many wonderful participants and honorees…lots of excitement and Yellow Jacket pride on display. It’s just an amazing parade,” said DHS Homecoming Sponsor LeAnne Rogers.
